Cubby Bear (Chicago, IL) - 8/20/2010

This past Friday's show at Cubby Bear with Greek Fire and Model Stranger was a pant wetting good time. A last minute show with such a great turnout makes me really appreciate the fact that Verona Red is blessed with the best fans in Chicago, maybe even the Midwest...no matter what you're definetly not third.

Here's some pics from the night.  HUGE PROPS to Michael Cooks from Afrothoughts.com for surprising us with these great images.  Mike Healy, glad your camera didn't break, thank you for the bonus images as well.

What a great night! This is the exact moment that I decided to applaud you all for being so damn awesome in anticipation for the blog I was going to write three days later.

Wish we could do this every night Chicago! But now it's back to writing :) Till next time...

Verona Red's 4/24 Cubby Bear Show Reviewed by SouthSide

SouthSide on the Town was at our Cubby Bear show on 4/24 and posted a great review of all the bands, including Model Stranger, 20 Mark Helga, The Flavor Savors and Cavalry.

SouthSide has been a good friend and supporter of ours since the beginning.  We've been friends for some time now and interestingly I learn a little bit more about her every time we run into each other at a show or industry event.  This Saturday I learned she is one of the ballsiest people in the city as she unapolgetically strolled around the Cubby Bear dressed to the nine's in White Sox apparel.  Hilarious.

I included our review below, but you can read the full night's review at http://southsideonthetown.blogspot.com/2010/04/24-apr-10.html.

Glad you liked the show SouthSide, thanks for the great review.

Cubby Bear Wrigleyville (Chicago, IL) - 4/25/2010

Saturday night at the Cubby Bear was a great time to be a Chicago musician.  All the guys from all of the other bands were such good people, and the fans seemed extra dancey and loud (or drunk).  Don't know if something was in the air, but things felt really communal and supportive Saturday night.

Thanks to Model Stranger for putting together a great night and THANK YOU for coming out and partying with us.

Seriously all of you looked fantastic out there, but mine and Tony's asses didn't look bad either.

Here's a short clip of In The Coat Check at the beginning of our set taken by one our fans.  Enjoy!

The good times don't stop bitches!  Our next show in Chicago is only a few weeks away.  We will be performing at Subterranean on Friday, May 14 with King Sparrow (Chicago) and Hurricane Bells (New York band featured on the Twilight soundtrack, currently touring with Blue October).

Good Times at Cubby Bear Wrigleyville This Saturday 4/24

So it's only Monday, but we're already really excited to get down with all you crazy kids at Cubby Bear Wrigleyville this Saturday.  One of our favorite bands in the city (and really good friends) Model Stranger is  releasing a new record, "Dreams and Bones," at this show and they've kindly invited us to play with ourselves.

I'm really excited to see these guys give this project the introduction it deserves.  I got to hang out with them in their studio during the pre-production phases of the record and just attended a pre-release listening party a few weeks ago.  The record sounds great and I can't wait to hear em do it on stage this Saturday.

The line-up they put together for this show is awesome too.

One thing I have to say here, is that if you haven't yet, definitely check out the Flavor Savers.  I was on their website for a few hours the other day laughing my balls off (imagine 3 Ron Burgandys in a rock/hip hop project).   It's the balls.  I can't wait to see it in person this Saturday.  Make sure to stick around for them.

Here's a quick clip of what I'm talking about.

Cubby Bear (Chicago, IL) 5/22/2009

Night two of our farewell party for Taz in Chicago.

FUN FUN FUN FUN…that’s the four words I could use to describe this night. If I had to pick one more in would be ANTI-BIOTIC.

It was at Cubby Bear during game 5 of the Blackhawks/Redwings semi-finals so it was a good ole fashion party in Wrigleyville that night. Jager-bombs were flowing, collars were popping, and chaches were a-chachin. The night was aglow with shiny gel encrusted highlights and spray-on tans.

We had a lot of help from our friends that night. Big thanks to Bethany Thomas for helping us send Taz off all proper like.

and Arman...

Taz has touched us all over the years (esp in cabs) and we are glad to see him taking a new step in life after VR; for when he emerges a beautiful new butterfly we will all gawk at his six legs with a gratitude that we knew him so well when he was just a fuzzy little caterpillar, creeping around on the floor of our apartment (5-6 days a week).
